I love a good cocktail especially when it has passion fruit and some type of fresh herb like basil or mint. This Passion Fruit Cocktail with Vodka and Basil is a drink that has become a regular around my house. I will usually whip up a cocktail with whatever fresh fruit or berries I can find in my fridge. Being married to a bartender is awesome, he has helped me understand a lot about makes a good drink. But things were not always like this, I drank bad beer and vodka cranberries late into my 20’s. And I am not ashamed to admit that because living on a student budget is hard.
If you can get your hands on some fresh passion fruit definitely do so, the pulp is a bright yellow and it has crunchy black seeds inside and had the most beautiful citrusy, floral fragrance. It is a little expensive so I recommend buying the pulp for a more pocket friendly option. Vodka is very neutral in flavor and it helps in elevating the passion fruits notes. When it comes to herbs, feel free to improvise. I used basil in the recipe but opted for mint when I did a mini tutorial on this Passion Fruit Cocktail with Basil on instagram here.
If you are not into passion fruit, don’t worry I have some more drinks like this Grapefruit Pepper Cooler!
